Hi! I’m Avery and I attend LAU. For my NHS personal service project, I have decided to coordinate a fundraiser to raise money for a charity organization. I have chosen an organization called Sole Hope. This organization provides shoes for villages in Uganda. Many people in these villages have a parasite called jiggers. Jiggers are tiny bugs that burrow into feet and can grow up to 1000 times their size, they also lay eggs in people’s feet. Jiggers prevent children from going to school, walking, running, and playing. They also prevent people from working and in some cases people who have jiggers become outcasts. Sole Hope goes to these villages, removes the jiggers, and provides them with a pair of shoes, which few people have. When you purchase one of my photos 100% of that money goes to Sole Hope.
